Work

From Software Development to Engineering Management

I have always been fascinated with computers. I like code, systems, network or database administration, anything happening behind a webservice really. I try to be as versatile as possible even if sometimes the machine yells back at me and even so, I always welcome the experience as an opportunity to learn something new.

About

I'm a 33 year old software engineer, currently employed as an Engineering Manager at Batch.

Starting my career as an operations engineer allowed me to get a strong grasp of the behind the scene of a distributed web application. I have been involved in many aspects of the lifecycle of several backend services, from development, testing, monitoring, deploying, load balancing, to server administration, incident management and customer-facing communication.

I was keen to continue deepening my technical knowledge first and foremost, which allowed me to discover many different technologies before specializing in Java development. My attraction for low-level stuff led me on the DevOps path, combining my experience as an operations manager and developer.

I adhere to the philosophy of free software, use and promote it as much as possible in my work or personal projects.
